Featured Drink: Caicos Cooler

Here's a quick fact about rum: While there are rum producers in places such as Australia, India, Reunion Island, and elsewhere around the world, most rum production occurs in and around the Caribbean and along the Demerara River in South America.

Caicos Cooler

2 oz. Rum
1 oz. Cointreau
1/2 oz. Vodka
1/2 oz. Banana Liquor
2 oz. Orange Juice

Combine ingredients with ice in cocktail shaker and shake well. Pour into cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a pineapple wedge.

This week, the world lost a visionary and a change-maker when Steve Jobs died at 56. We came across this libation tribute to Jobs on Drink Philly and we're honored to share it with you.

The Steve Jobs Drink

4 oz. Apple Cider
2 oz. Whiskey
1/2 oz. Orange Liqueur (Combier preferred)
1/2 oz. Lemon Juice

Shake ingredients with ice, serve neat. Garnish with iPod Shuffle. Serve on an iPad.

The Lost Wedding Dress Cocktail

You've probably heard about Sandra Scharf and her lost wedding dress adventure starring Island Dogs co-owner David Thibault.

Well, it inspired us to add a new drink to the Island Dogs menu--the Lost Wedding Dress! So without further ado, we reveal The Dress, created by our very own Liz Podlucky.

Finding Bruschi

After the whole wedding dress fiasco last week and the power of social media in reuniting the distraught bride with her lost dress, Island Dogs GM Dave Thibault went for a two-fer.

Bruschi. Arrroooo!

Thibault's adorable pup, aptly named Bruschi, was taken from his yard around 11 a.m. on September 3. Thibault posted on Island Dog's Facebook, asking fans to re-post on their walls and if anyone saw him to give Thibault a call.

When I checked in to see how things panned out, Thibault texted: "I did the same thing with Facebook as the dress. And it had everyone looking."

But Thibault's lovely wife Alysia ended up buying an Amber alert on FindToto.com (you can put an Amber Alert out for a pet. Who knew!) and Bruschi was returned within 20 minutes! The pup had only been missing for a day.

So it didn't quite work out again, trying to harness the power of social media, but it still had a happy ending!
